Back at Pukemokemoke today we explored the lowlands, admiring the sun through the branches and looking at the different trees that made up the canopy. These were Matai, Kahikatea and Totara, each with distinctive attributes that the children are learning about.

After lunch there was time to hunt for things of interest and the thing of interest today was MUD. Luckily most of the children had worn their gumboots and were able to squelch through the mud without a fuss. Being out in nature, exploring and finding things of interest encourages children to slow down and notice the things that others may not.
