Kia ora Whānau,

We have had a few changes to staffing over the last month or two.  We farewell both Wendy and Alana from the Under Two's and welcome Sharmila Caeiro into our Over Two's room.  We wish Wendy and Alana all the very best for their future and thank them for their work over the years that they have been at Fraser.

Sharmila loves to cook and the children are already having opportunities to work with her and create yummy things to eat. We are looking forward to the many varied learning opportunities Sharmila can offer the children.

Starting in the new term we will be welcoming Carol Walters back to Fraser.  Carol will take up the Team Leader position in the Under Two's room.

Kate Ridley will also be returning after a short break away and will be a teacher in the Under Two's room once again.

From Friday, 14 October we will again say 'ka kite ano' to Lina who is taking her family back to the islands for a 3 month holiday. She will return to us in the New Year.

Sadly, Leonie is also leaving us.  Her last day at Fraser will be Tuesday, 18 October.  From Wednesday Leonie is heading to Hillcrest until she starts on her new journey.  We would like to thank Leonie for everything she has done at Frasers and wish her all the very best in her next adventure.  Parents are invited to join us on Tuesday at 2.15 pm for a farewell afternoon tea.

Over the last few weeks the tamariki have enjoyed a couple of spontaneous walks around Fraser High School and Elliott Park. Excursions of this kind allow the children to explore new places, make connections outside of Creche, test their own abilities and develop confidence in new situations.   The children enjoyed exploring the playground at the park, discovering their own uses for natural resources and running on the big fields.

Over the school holiday period we have had a mini Holiday Programme running. We have had dress-up days, messy-play days, bike days and more. The children have been enjoying these days and have come with lots of enthusiasm for the next event.

We are really enjoying the change of season, with some warm sunny days sprinkled in amongst the rainy ones. The flowers and insects are out for the children to explore and learn about, the vegetable garden is producing well and we have been able to make a stir-fry with the children using our own grown vegetables.

What an amazing learning experience for the children. They were involved in planting the vegetables, looking after them, harvesting them, cooking them and finally eating them.

We are currently planning for our Christmas Party and over the next two months the children will be busy making gifts to give their parents.  The Christmas Party will be on Friday, 25 November @ 5.00 pm.
